Someone Else's Kingdom, BOOK II - Scene LXV

Lake Fryjia continued to flood its banks, the small towns and villages in its near vicinity knee high in water. The poor, un-helped, their homes unlivable. The occasional body, dead and grubby upon the heavy waters. Still, the war continued apace. The swollen harbours filled with ships and soldiers heading back and forth to the table of conflict. King Brijsk woke breezily on the damp morning. Fresh to start his journey back to the Northern Kingdom. The previous few days of discussion with King Kaspria had been productive, and required the utmost secrecy.

As he and his two loyal knights clopped beyond the gates of Castle Tori, and towards the wet green countryside, King Kaspria spoke to his own men. He brought his head guard close and whispered in his ear. The guard received his instruction, then walked briskly to his garrison to ready his men. One hundred and eighty horse. His finest troop. Heading outside the city walls on a critical mission.
