Someone Else's Kingdom, BOOK II - Scene LXXVI

Strange skies swept over the Northern Kingdom. Word had not yet reached Wedkarten regarding the death of King Brijsk, though a message had arrived from the south on his behalf. The king's seal was absent, but the message was clear: restart the subjugation of the half-tails; reclaim the king's land.

Despite the slight air of confusion, the orders were duly followed. The attack, paused for so long, quickly revived. The ceasefire and forest peace once again broken.

With cunning apprehension the recommencement was met with equal counterfire. Eartaria, Allakat and Celalah had used the tranquil lull well. The half-tails now a throng with powder and shot. The fiery woods would provide an incendiary resistance. No matter who was giving the order to suppress them.

Madame Maleeva would soon be on her way to fill that task. In the name of her son: the newly made Prince of the Northern Kingdom,

..though first there was other important business to attend to.
